 Devotional

Matthew 23:12 – “Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”
We know what is right and what is wrong and the “Lord aims His Word straight at our hearts, where He most desires to shape us.” A heart sold out to Jesus will always be humbled and will not have selfish ambitions. It’s not about what we want; it’s about a right attitude of serving God with a heart filled with His word. Remember this “Pride makes us artificial and humility makes us real.” Portions from Indeed Devotional 2-9-12.

John 3:18 – “Whoever believes in him is not condemned.”

Christians have the reputation of condemning others. We stand up against others who do wrong and we should. God’s word says, “God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned.” (John 3:17-18) If we are like Him then we shouldn’t condemn others. The one thing “Jesus wants us to do is preach the good news (His Word) and forgiveness of sins by the abundant grace of God to all who believe.” Portions from Indeed Devotional 1/6/12

Matthew 5:6 – “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

We need, we want, we get, not things of this world but eagerly seek all Christ has to offer. We all try and fill a void that nags for our attention. We cannot fill it with possessions or people. “One day, if we’re spiritually sensitive, we understand: it’s a holy hunger, and only God can fix it.” All we need to do is seek the one who seeks us, and we will be filled. Jesus is the Bread of Life , hunger after His Word. “There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of every man that cannot be filled by any created thing but only by the Creator.” Portions from Indeed Devotional 1/11/12

Member Opportunities

We have many great opportunities here at Agape where you can get involved and be a part of something good.  We believe that church should be more than come and sit and leave.  Ephesians 4:6 teaches that the body is supposed to be every member in place, doing their part.  Please take the time to read through the different areas.  Make a difference in someone’s life by finding your place in a ministry.

If you’re interested in learning more about a membership, please fill out our contact us form.

Greeters
The greeting team is an important function at Agape as the first person that represents our church to those coming to the house of God.  This is a vital ministry and why God lists it as a “Ministry Gift” in the book of Corinthians.

Outreach/Evangelism
The purpose of this team is to obey the great commission and go out among them, wherever they are and wherever the spirit leads, and compel or bid them come in.  So much of the Lord’s heart is to go to the hurting and bruised and offer the only thing that can save them, “The Love of JESUS”.

We look for ways to go out and reach the city with the Love of Christ.

Hospitality
This is a vital ministry to our church and the congregation.  When people are in need and are faced with desperate circumstances, they need the loving hands of those that can fix a meal, deliver a smile, visit those in the hospital, and be there when people are needed the most, during times of crisis.

Maintenance
The ministry of this team is to oversee the House of God.  It is composed of men and women, dedicated to the excellent standard of keeping God’s house in good physical order.

Intercessory Prayer
This team is important in fulfilling the scripture of always praying.  A church who will not pray is a church that is lacking in the fullness of God.  Our prayer team meets every Tuesday night at 7:00 pm.

Teachers and Helpers

Nothing is more important to the Lord than teaching our children and “allowing the Little children to come unto Him”.  If you have a desire to help with our Children’s ministry or nursery, let us know and we will find the will of the Lord for your gifting.

Missions

Here at Agape Christian Fellowship missions are a very important part of our church and its ministries.  We support efforts to share the Love of Christ around the world.  Listed below are the efforts we currently support.

Samaritan’s Purse:
In over 100 countries, God is using Samaritan’s Purse to help lift up the Name of Jesus Christ as we respond to the needs of millions of suffering men, women, and children in the far corners of the world.  We also participate in the Christmas Shoebox distribution.

Bamboo Curtain Missions –Xian China:
We support specific missionaries who are spreading the Gospel in Xian China.  There are hundreds of thousands who have never heard of the name of Jesus.  The Chinese church is growing at between 2 and 5 million each year and Agape is sponsoring the underground church amidst extreme persecution.

Community Care-Prayer Outreach:
They provide food and clothing for the needy in our community.  Their primary purpose is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost, and to encourage the discouraged Christian with the love of Christ.  Also, they are able to help with financial needs and Christian counseling.

Port Cities Rescue Mission Ministries:
Provides shelter for the homeless, a safe-haven for men, women, and children.  They provide food and a place to sleep while at the same time ministering to them the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Also, programs to help get them back on their feet.  They also have drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

International Action Ministries – Ralph & Donna Sikes – Mission to Europe & South Africa:
An international effort to work in accordance to the needs of national pastors, leaders and missionaries of established churches worldwide, Turkey, Holland, Sweden, Austria, Germany, Eastern Europe, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, and South Africa.  They provide training programs to assist pastors and leadership in becoming more effective with ministry in the area of their calling.  They also support orphans and schools in Africa.

Brian & Mary Chamberlain – Missionaries to America:
They travel the United States as the Lord prompts them.  They have ministered here in the Golden Triangle area and the motorcycle rally in South Dakota and others across the nation.  They are currently in Tennessee.

Mike Eaves – Chaplain to the Orange & Jefferson County Jails:
Ministers to the inmates the Word of God in our local area.

Peru Amazon Outreach:
Agape is very active in supporting the ministry to Peru by sending teams during the summer to preach the Gospel and help build churches and houses.  They reach out to the people of the cities with ministry and also take a canoe trip up the Amazon to reach many people who otherwise do not have a chance to hear or see the word of God in action.

Africa Mission Outreach:
Agape supports the ministry of Danny and Sue Jaynes to reach the people of Myanmar, Malaysia, and Damonga, Africa, along with other locations.  God is using this ministry to reach many with the Gospel of Christ who have not heard the gospel of Jesus Christ and to help in building houses and community centers.

Home Grown Missionaries:
Go Ye into all the world and “Preach”
Thomas Tucker – Currently serving and ministering to the people of Peru and the Amazon region while continuing with his theological study.

James Guest: Currently serving in Hot Springs Arkansas and doing street ministry and outreach through dance, preaching, and witnessing.

Ministries

Agape Christian Fellowship has something for every member of your family at every stage of life.  Everyone is welcome.

Adults:
Join us on Sunday mornings for worship and a message from the hearts of our pastors.

Youth:
The Agape youth group known as “The Hub” is for anyone in Jr. High and High School looking for a great time and a radical meeting with God.  Come to “The Hub” to get plugged in and equipped for your daily walk.  They meet on Wednesday Nights at 7:00 pm in the youth room of the church.

Ladies Ministry:
Meeting together for special events.  Watch the bulletin for information.

Children’s Church:
Agape has always made the Children’s ministry a priority of our church and we feel this reaches the hearts of the young when they need it most to build a strong foundation for Christ in their lives.  The children of Agape are very important and a vital part of the vision and workings of our church.  We adapt our vision to the words of JESUS in…  “allow the little children to come unto me”.

This ministry is for children in the 1st through 5th grades.

Precious Hearts:
Ministers to children ages 3, 4, 5, and kindergarten with a time of games, music, crafts, and Bible lesson.

Nursery:
The nursery team at Agape Christian Fellowship strives for a peaceful atmosphere for babies from age birth to 3 years old.

Our nursery is under leadership of the church and we have many qualified volunteers that take care of our children.  We have a separate area for bed babies and another area for toddlers up to 3 years of age.

Also, in our sanctuary, we have a cry room for nursing mothers who wish to stay connected with the service and care for their own children.  The cry room has adjustable sound from the sanctuary and a one way mirror into the sanctuary.

We strive to make sure every toy and bed and article in the nursery is disinfected and properly cleaned on a regular basis.
