Matthew 23:12 – “Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”
We know what is right and what is wrong and the “Lord aims His Word straight at our hearts, where He most desires to shape us.” A heart sold out to Jesus will always be humbled and will not have selfish ambitions. It’s not about what we want; it’s about a right attitude of serving God with a heart filled with His word. Remember this “Pride makes us artificial and humility makes us real.” Portions from Indeed Devotional 2-9-12.
John 3:18 – “Whoever believes in him is not condemned.”
Christians have the reputation of condemning others. We stand up against others who do wrong and we should. God’s word says, “God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned.” (John 3:17-18) If we are like Him then we shouldn’t condemn others. The one thing “Jesus wants us to do is preach the good news (His Word) and forgiveness of sins by the abundant grace of God to all who believe.” Portions from Indeed Devotional 1/6/12
Matthew 5:6 – “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
We need, we want, we get, not things of this world but eagerly seek all Christ has to offer. We all try and fill a void that nags for our attention. We cannot fill it with possessions or people. “One day, if we’re spiritually sensitive, we understand: it’s a holy hunger, and only God can fix it.” All we need to do is seek the one who seeks us, and we will be filled. Jesus is the Bread of Life , hunger after His Word. “There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of every man that cannot be filled by any created thing but only by the Creator.” Portions from Indeed Devotional 1/11/12
